“The Future of Living” will bring qualities of German collective housing projects to China. Our mission is to create places where people can share their time and skills, where neighbors inspire and help one another. A place with shared spaces and shared costs where life together is better than alone. To achieve this we assist groups of resident in identifying what and how to share, and provide architectural design services for spatial solutions.
At the “AEDES Metropolitan Laboratory” we have presented our analysis of existing German and Chinese collective housing cases, of an online survey in which we polled living habits and preferences of 1,000 Shenzhen residents, and the outcome of a focus group event we held in December 2017 with 17 experts from real estate development, urban planning, policy making, architecture and urban design and social activism.
At the Asia Pacific Week‘s “Start-up Cities” workshop we had the chance to discuss our business model canvass. Comments and recommendations from the Berlin-based Asian-German community of innovators and entrepreneurs have exceeded our expectations.
The presentations at AEDES and the Asian Pacific Week mark the end of a 9 month period during which “Future of Living” was incubated and funded by a grant in the frame of the program CITYMAKERS China-Germany, co-initiated by Robert Bosch Stiftung in partnership with CONSTELLATIONS International.
Erhard An-He Kinzelbach, Binke Lenhardt and myself are excited to continue the project and look forward to support from Chinese Municipalities seeking to implement collective housing to achieve social integration and foster physical spaces for innovation, Chinese real-estate developers seeking to widen their portfolio and individuals keen living in collectively shared buildings, shaped for their needs and giving them access to more facilities and services for an affordable price.
