The Future of Living

“The Future of Living” will bring qualities of German collective housing projects to China. Our mission is to create

places where people can share their time and skills, where neighbors inspire and help one another, places with shared spaces and shared costs where life together is better than alone.

To achieve this we assist groups of resident in identifying what and how to share, and provide architectural design services for spatial solutions.

To this end we have

  • analyzed existing German and Chinese collective housing cases,
  • polled 1,000 residents of Shenzhen, one of China’s fastest growing, demographically diverse and economically vibrant cities in an online survey, and
  • held a focus group event in December 2017, where we asked 17 experts from real estate development, urban planning, policy making, architecture and urban design and social activism about their opinons on the future of living.

The project continues! E-mail us if you want to be part of the future of living!

The project is lead by Iris Belle, Binke Lenhardt and Erhard An-He Kinzelbach. From August 2017 to April 2018 “Future of Living” was incubated and funded by a grant in the frame of the program CITYMAKERS China-Germany, co-initiated by Robert Bosch Stiftung in partnership with CONSTELLATIONS International.
